HARRISBURG – Rep. Rob Mercuri (R-Allegheny) has been appointed to serve on the House Education Committee for the rest of the 2021-22 Legislative Session in addition to his other committee assignments.

“There are few priorities more important than the education of our next generation, and every Pennsylvanian should have the ability to receive a high-quality education that puts the needs of students first. The last year has had an incredible impact on the education of our children, and there is important work to be done to improve their experiences. As a father of three school-aged children, I value the hard work and dedication of PA’s teachers and administrators, and I look forward to representing the perspectives of both parents and students themselves as we address legislation,” Mercuri said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve on the committee and look forward to working with Chairman Curt Sonney (R-Erie) and the other committee members.”

The Education Committee focuses on education issues, legislation, policy developments and constituent requests across the entire educational spectrum, both public and private, encompassing K-12 basic education, as well as post-secondary education.

Mercuri also serves on the House Finance, Liquor Control, Urban Affairs and Commerce committees.

The 28th District covers part of northern Allegheny County and consists of the townships of Marshall, McCandless and Pine; and the boroughs Bradford Woods and Franklin Park.
