By Rep. Rob Mercuri
Our community, its health and wellbeing, is at the forefront of all I do as your state representative. I will be hosting our annual Community Health Fair once again at AHN Wexford on Oct. 12. The health of the members of our community is critical as we continually build a safe environment for our seniors, students, children and everyone who calls the North Hills of Pittsburgh home.

The Community Health Fair will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Our event will be graciously hosted in conjunction with the Allegheny Health Network and will be held at the Allegheny Health Network Wexford’s Health and Wellness Pavilion on the Second Floor, 12311 Perry Highway in Wexford. We will have informational exhibitors, door prizes and free flu shots.

Working to keep the community in strong health and well-being has been a prominent focus of my term as the representative of the 28th Legislative District. On top of hosting numerous community health fairs during my term, I have proudly worked to improve the health of my constituency by the creation of the North Hills Mental Health and Substance Abuse Task Force. The purpose of this task force was to improve the quality of life for North Hills residents affected by substance use and mental health challenges by increasing awareness, promoting prevention strategies, and increasing access to care while eliminating overdoses.

I am thrilled with the results of the task force and our work with local and regional health and human service experts to raise awareness and find solutions to the issues plaguing our Commonwealth.

As we head into the fall and winter seasons, I wish you and your family a healthy and prosperous season. I hope to see you at the Community Health Fair on Oct. 12 at AHN Wexford.

To make an appointment for a flu shot during the health fair, please contact my office at 412-369-2230.
